Welcome to Ceithir!

Welcome to Ceithir - our much-loved holiday home in the community of Ose, on the west coast of Skye.

"Ceithir" (pronounced kay-her) means "four" in Gallic - Ceithir is the house associated with Croft 4 in Ose.

Ceithir was previously owned by a carpenter and you'll find his legacy around the house -

look out for anything marked with his trademark piece of driftwood.

Relax with a good book in front of the wood-burner or open fire.

Enjoy beautiful views over Loch Bracadale with a coffee on the terrace or lunch in the garden.

We hope you will love Ceithir as we do.

Ose and the Isle of Skye

Here in Ose we're perfectly located for many of Skye's attractions, both well-known and hidden gems ...

* For a quick Isle of Skye fix, head 2.5 miles south to Dun Beag Broch - an Iron-age round tower at the top of a short, steepish climb, with gorgeous sunsets and views of the Cuillins, Loch Harport and over Loch Bracadale to the Outer Hebrides - or Oronsay Island, accessible a couple of hours either side of low tide via a causeway - turn off at Dun Beag Broch.

* The Talisker Distillery, Michelin-listed Edinbane Lodge and world-famous Three Chimneys are less than 20 minutes away.

* The Coral Beach, Fairy Pools and Neist Point Lighthouse (great for dolphin- / whale-watching) are all less than 40 minutes away.

* A bit further - 45 mins to 1 hr - are the Old Man of Storr, Quiraing and Trotternish Ridge - spectacular views over Staffin Beach (with its dinosaur prints) to the mountains on the mainland; and, to the south, Elgol and a lovely boat trip to Loch Coruisk - crystal-clear and perfect for swimming!

* Dunvegan is only 10 minutes away - visit Dunvegan Castle, historic seat of the MacLeods; take a boat trip to see the seals; and enjoy all the local facilities - Skye's Oldest Bakery, Jann's cake shop, a greengrocer, convenience store, petrol station, Post Office and several excellent coffee shops and restaurants - The Community Cafe, Atholl House, The Dunvegan and Old School House.

* Struan, 0.5 mile on from Dun Beag Broch, has a small shop / Post Office open Mon-Fri mornings, and the lovely Bog Myrtle Cafe.

* Portree, the island's capital, full of independent shops and restaurants, plus the closest supermarket and swimming pool, is only 30 minutes away - and the view as you approach Bracadale on the way back will make you smile.
